立命館大学国際関係学部在学中に開催されたCOP3が契機となり、国際気候政治の専門分野へ。卒業後、米ボストン大学大学院・国際関係論・環境政策の修士号取得。以降、WWFジャパンにおいて、気候変動・エネルギー分野での国内政策および毎年の国連気候変動枠組条約会議（COP)での政策提言活動に主に携わる。COPには2003年からほぼ全て参加している。2020年より室長。

COP3 in Kyoto inspired Naoyuki to work on international climate policies in his freshman year at Ritsumeikan University. He pursued a master degree in International Relations and Environmental Policy at Boston University. After graduation, he joined WWF Japan in 2003. Since then, his work has been focused on policy advocacy. He covered both domestic and international climate policies. Domestically, he has been working on cap-and-trade scheme and energy policy advocacy and, internationally, he has participated in the UN climate negotiations almost every year since 2003 with the global team of WWF.
